One of the most celebrated organists of our time, Latvia's Iveta Apkalna trained in England and Germany after studying in her homeland, and today her playing captivates audiences all over the world. As far as Gábor Boldoczki is concerned, it is sufficient to say that he is one of the top trumpet players on the planet: a universal artist.

The aptly named Angelica Girls' Choir, who are led by Zsuzsanna Gráf, and help nurture the legacy of Kodály and Bartók, have captivated Müpa Budapest audiences on several occasions.

Zsombor Tóth-Vajna is an outstandingly talented member of the young Hungarian generation of artists dedicated to the historically informed performance of early music, both as a conductor and a specialist in early keyboard instruments, playing the organ, harpsichord, fortepiano and clavichord. He completed his studies at Budapest's Liszt Academy and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Szeretjük a zenét és szeretjük a képzőművészetet is. Egy intenzív zenei élmény képeket varázsol elénk, egy festmény láttán pedig ritmusok, harmóniák „szólalnak meg” bennünk. Tán bele sem gondoltunk még abba, hogy a zene és a képzőművészet közötti kapcsolat nemcsak véletlenszerűen erősíti a befogadói élményt, hanem tudatos alkotói szándék is állhat a háttérben.

Az a zenekar, amelyet Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro életében először vezényelt szülőhazája határain kívül, az a budapesti MÁV Szimfonikus Zenekar volt. 2024. május 24-i koncertünkre a Zeneakadémián néhány óra alatt elkeltek a jegyek, és mivel sokan lemaradtak a lehetőségről, ezért úgy döntöttünk, megismételjük a koncertet másnap, május 25-én, 19:00 órakor az Erkel Színházban!

Balázs János zongoraestje – „Polonéz és rapszódiák”

The program presents three of the highest peaks of the string orchestra literature (hence the title of the concert). Grieg speaks the musical language of the 19th century, Britten and Bartók of the 20th. Grieg's work evokes the style and mood of an era long passed, while Britten dresses his own childhood genius in 'adult clothes’; his work is sweet and joyful. Bartók's Divertimento (although the title means 'entertainment') is a heartbreaking testament of the greatest tragedy of the 20th century, the outbreak of the Second World War.

Everyone is welcome to come in colourful clothes, the programme is a mere 50 minutes in length (without an interval), and the audience sits in close proximity to the organist. Performing the May programme, the fourth instalment of the series, will be Péter Mekis, a representative of the younger generation.
